Nice Day, Good Run

Today was a nice day. I wasn't feeling too great in the morning, this time feeling sort of like I had some kind of sickness. I decided to take the day off work. Yes, I wanted to spend some time just taking it easy and resting up, but also I think the reason I got a bit of the sickness because that damn guy always comes to work when he is sick. Why won't sick people stay home? I don't have insurance right now, so it's not like I can go get medicine from the doctor. I just have to do my best to stay healthy. There is no reason for me to get sick. I get plenty of sleep, eat a great diet, bundle up when it is cold, and take it easy when I am not feeling the best.

Took the legs out for a run about 5 pm. The sun was making the sky a nice color. In the first mile, my toes got really cold (wasn't wearing 2 pairs today), and thought about only going 2, but then they warmed up. I ended up doing 4 at a pretty easy pace, with the last 400m or so at a faster pace, probably around 6:40 or so. Felt good to get the legs moving again!

Glad that I did not wipe out on the ice. I want to avoid getting injured by losing my footing. That is the worst way to go.

Hope your day was good too!

Fact: only 14 days of the year left. Then begins 2009, the year of awesome running!

Hey, do you remember around this same time last year you one of your ideas was to run 2008 miles because the year was 2008? Do you remember that?
Well, I think we did a good job passing up that number.

What do you wear to stay warm?

No...not me. I did not pass it. I just passed 1800 today. :( Sad face for me.

Well, I wore a long sleeve base layer, a short sleeve over it, and then two turtle necks. That keeps you warm until the windchill gets to probably 5 or so. After that I remove a turtle neck and throw on a jacket.

On the legs I wear pants. They help to keep the legs warm.

Since my package was getting frozen last time, today I decided to wear two pairs of compression shorts...it was all good, until the top ones started riding up AND down. They came up really high, and went sort of low, too, so basically it was a 4 inch band of material covering my package. I learned 2 things: that I can keep warm wearing 2 layers, and also learned what it must feel like to wear volleyball shorts.

Next year is going to be 3000 miles. Believe it.

Sorry you're feeling sickly. Maybe don't tell the boss you ran 5 miles on your sick day.

You get away with wearing two pairs of socks? What kind do you wear that don't bunch?
